*Note: Anywhere you see silver, black, and blue, those assignments are adjusted for different groups. Blue is for students who got 4-5 correct on the previous quiz. Black is for students who got 2-3, and Silver is for students who got 0-1.
8/25 - 8/26
Everyone received a Lab Safety Contract, and it should be reviewed and signed, then returned to school. We also went over the general expectations for 8th Grade Science, which can be found on the "ClassRules/Expectations" tab of the menu above.
8/27 - 8/28
Today we set up your Science Notebooks. You should leave at least seven sheets at the beginning of your notebook for the Table of Contents. If you don't have a complete TOC, check the "Table of Contents" tab of the menu above.
8/29 - 9/2
Today we practiced HOW students should be watching videos at home. We also went through Lab Equipment Scenarios and what equipment students would need to use to complete the activities. Then we practiced Identifying Variables: independent, dependent, and control. In addition, we did Graphing Practice, including identifying when a bar graph is appropriate versus when a line graph is appropriate.
9/3 - 9/4
Today we talked about hypotheses before completing a Scientific Method Lab Activity. There were four different labs, depending on student need and student choice: Save Sam (Blue), Save Sam (Black), Save Sam (Silver), Bubble Gum (Blue), M&M's (Black), and Ketchup (Silver).
9/5 - 9/8
Today we reviewed science processes before taking a Science Process Quiz. After the quiz, we took the Earth History Pre-Test. While we took the pre-test, we unpacked the content in our Science Notebooks on pg. 17. If you missed the quiz or the pre-test, you will need to schedule a time (within 5 days) to make them up OUTSIDE of class time.
