Welcome to Mr. Mahoney's Science Page
August 26, 2019
Welcome to my 8th grade science class! I am excited for another exciting year of learning and growing with all of my students. This is my ninth year at Carmel, and my fourteenth year in CMS. I am a native of Michigan, where I attended Central Michigan University, though I've been a Michigan Wolverine fan for as long as I can remember. I am married and have two amazing kids of my own. Lucas is 14, and Caity is almost 13. In my free time, I enjoy coaching my kids' sports teams, which they are very involved in. From baseball and softball to football and basketball, it seems that we're always busy at a practice or game somewhere!
I have created this webpage as a way to help students and parents stay up-to-date on what is happening in science class throughout the course of the year. It can be a very useful tool to stay organized, or to find work missed while absent from school.
You'll find a list of all our units of study for this school year. Students need to expect a COMPREHENSIVE STATE E.O.G. at the end of the year. This test will count, so it is in the best interest of students to stay focused throughout the year and prepare for this test. I teach 8th grade students, and I hold high expectations for all of my students. As we prepare students for high school, you should expect an increased workload and an increase in personal responsibility and accountability. Teachers, students, and parents are all part of a team whose top priority is for the students to be successful.
If ever you have questions about what's happening in science class, please don't hesitate to email me, and I'll get back with you as soon as I am able. Your child's education is a team effort, and we're all in it together!
