*You will need to add specific heat to your notes...it was mistakenly left out of the video. Specific heat is the amount of heat energy it takes to raise the temperature of water. Water has a very high specific heat which means it takes a lot of energy and a longer time to heat water up, but once it is heated up it will keep that heat energy, and stay hotter longer. An example of this is the ocean. It takes a while for the ocean to heat up, which is why in March you wouldn't want to go swimming, but in July it is the perfect temperature...this also explains why in Sept and Oct the water temperature is still enjoyable.

9/9 - 9/12
1. Watch this video and take notes on it. [Put this on page 17 in your science notebook.]
~Here are some things to think about as you watch the video:
What does it mean to be living?
What are the characteristics of life?
What are examples of things on this planet that are living and that are not living?
What is the difference between living, nonliving, and dead?
~Remember that you should take THOROUGH notes, not JUST answer the questions! Your goal is to UNDERSTAND!!!!!!

Heightened Review 2016-2017:
Directions for HR Work:
All students will complete at least three activities for each day. Using the Mock EOG, as well as other tests taken this school year, you should focus your energy on activities that address topics that you did not answer correctly, and that you do not understand fully.
For WORKSHEETS: You need to answer all of the questions completely and then write a paragraph summary of the topic of the worksheet in your NB.
For VIDEOS: You need to watch and listen to the video and take notes, and then write a paragraph summary of the topic of the video in your NB.
For ACTIVITIES/OTHER: You need to complete the activity, whatever it may be, including answering any embedded questions, and then write a paragraph summary of the topic of the activity in your NB.
Here are all of the resources for HR...click on the topic below and you will be connected to all of the resources.
